BBC "The Apprentice" Modern Gentleman range, episode 12, series 8

Challenges

• to repro, print & despatch self-adhesive labels within an extremely short time span
• to push this critical project through the factory whilst keeping staff "in the dark" as to the end use

Solutions

• AJS' Operations Director Phil Smith, together with Technical Excecutive Craig Hove, was well briefed on the project and aware of it's sensitive and discreet nature
• Technical Excecutive worked closely with the toiletries company before filming on container sizes and coresponding label dimensions. A specific die cutter was purchased in advance
• AJS were on stand-by over 12 hour period on the day of filming
• Our digital press operators were aware that a short-run, time-critical label was due on press at some time during the day
• Once artwork arrived, full attention was given to repro this urgent job
• It was printed digitally- no plates or ink mixes were needed thus extremely rapid artwork to print time
• labels were varnished, die cutted and rewound ready for despatch
• quality inspection revealed an artwork error on behalf of The Apprentice team which had to be corrected. This resulted in a complete re-print and re-finish of the labels
• AJS printed and reprinted labels for The Apprentice in just under 2 hours

• Printed on HP Indigo WS6000 digital press
• Finished on ABG Digicon Series 2 Finishing Kit
