Nick Gibb, Littlehampton MP and Government Minister, returned to self adhesive printing company AJS Labels on Friday 19th August to commission the latest £900,000 investment.

Nick Gibb opened the printing company in April 2009 when husband and wife team Andrew and Jayne Scrimgeour, bought the company from global media giant AGI. It had been a difficult period in the self adhesive labels printing company’s 40 year history having clocked up losses of over £334,000 the previous year.

Our first year of operation as AJS Labels marked a return to basics approach in which we re-engaged with staff and customers. By really focussing on customer service and team work, we were able to return to profit and throughout year 2 further improvements led to significant sales growth.

By the start of 2011 enough confidence returned to make this the year of investment for us including the very latest HP Digital Printing Indigo WS6000 press coupled with bespoke Digital Finishing line.

Nick said he was delighted to be returning to celebrate this success story. He congratulated the team on turning round this loss-making printing company and in making it the success it is today, not only in Littlehampton but also nationally having recently won the much coveted BPIF (British Printing Industry Federation) Company of the Year 2011.

A new Management Information System will be installed later this year completing the £900k investment. Andrew Scrimgeour comments, “This investment in new equipment together with the outstanding commitment from the staff should put AJS Labels in a really strong position for the future”.
