The Tim Gittings Trophy is awarded to AJS Labels Accounts Assistant

Accounts Assistant, Veronica Alderslade, is the latest member of staff to be awarded the AJS Labels Tim Gittings Trophy for excellence.

Veronica left school and went to Chichester College to start an OND course in Business Studies. She particularly excelled at the accountancy part of the course and her tutor recommended her for a job with Chartered Accountants, Couldery & Co. where she continued her training. The job provided an excellent opportunity to gain more experience especially in book-keeping, VAT, accountancy and auditing.

Sadly the Couldery partnership split up and after a spell of working for one of the accountants, Veronica decided to try working for herself as a self-employed accountant. Some of her work was through previous contacts and she also built up a client base of her own.

In 2004 Veronica bumped into Andrew at a Scouting event that she was helping to organise and he invited her to apply for a job at AJS Labels. The rest is history! Veronica has been with the company for 12 years now and has played a very strong role in the finance department.

Throughout her time here she has continued to study and gain a number of prestigious qualifications including the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) Diploma in Accounting and the ACCA (Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants) Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business. Never one to stand still, Veronica is now working towards the professional and final stages of her qualifications and with just 3 exams to go after this December’s sitting, she hopes to be completely finished in 2017. What a fantastic sense of achievement!

‘Veronica has been a dedicated, reliable and valued member of the finance team for many years. She works to strict deadlines and always makes sure the staff are paid on time!’ Said Finance Director Ian Hamer. ‘We thank Veronica for her unwavering attention to detail and her constant willingness to get the job done.’

Director Andrew Scrimgeour said ‘Well done Veronica. You are one of the hardest working members of staff at AJS. Your attention to detail is exceptional – I always feel that the company’s finances are in safe-hands under your watch!’

Veronica was very surprised to be awarded the trophy. ‘It’s fantastic. Really great! My endorphins have kicked in. Holding the trophy brings back memories of Tim which is what it’s all about!’
